Beam Travelling Trolleys

SUSPEND YOUR HOIST SAFELY & EFFICIENTLY

A Beam Trolley is the best and most efficient way to suspend your existing hoist in your warehouse, garage, or workshop. This type of equipment will enable your hoist to traverse up and down the beam, in and out of the way when required – improving the safety of both you and your employees.

For light-duty applications, we have our Push Travel Trolley range, while for the heavier-duty tasks, our collection of Geared and Electric Travel Trolleys are perfect. Available from all the brands you love, our range of trolleys is designed to suit a wide spectrum of applications and operating environments, from standard units to corrosion-resistant for those damp/wet applications and ATEX spark-proof models designed for highly explosive environments.

WHAT IS A BEAM TRAVEL TROLLEY?

A Beam Trolley – or simply a trolley -  is a mechanical device that has been specifically designed to move along an overhead beam or rail.

Theis type of equipment is most commonly used in industrial environments such as warehouses, factories, garages and workshops – pretty much anywhere where heavy loads need moving in a horizontal manner.

Commonly used in conjunction with a chain hoist (manual or electric), Beam trolleys are known for their versatility, and often remove the need for a complex conveyor system, proving to be a far more cost-effective solution, with less maintenance and higher productivity output.

FEATURES OF BEAM TROLLEYS

ATTACHMENT TO A BEAM

The trolley is designed to securely attach to an overhead beam or rail. This beam is typically mounted at a high level, and the trolley can traverse across its length.

WORKING LOAD LIMIT (WLL)

Beam travel trolleys are constructed to support specific load capacity, ranging from light tot heavy loads. This capacity is determined by the design and materials of the trolley. Working load capacities are clearly stated on the product listings on our website.

WHEELS/ROLLERS

The bottom of the trolley is equipped with wheels or rollers that support traversing of the beam, allowing the trolley to carry to load.

ADJUSTABLE WIDTH

Some beam travel trolleys have an adjustable width to accommodate different sizes of beams/rails. This adjustability makes them adaptable to a wide range of installations.

ATTACHMENT POINTS

Beam trolleys typically have attachment points or mechanisms for connecting to loads. This can include hooks, eyelets, or other fixtures that provide a secure connection. We have a range of this across our website.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF BEAM TROLLEY?

Beam Travelling Trollies come in a wide range of types and configurations, each designed to meet specific requirements for different applications. Choosing a particular type of travel trolley depends on multiple factors such as safe working load capacity, beam type, and method of movement. Here we outline the most common types of beam travel trolleys used in industrial settings.

This type of trolley is manually operated, pushed and pulled along the beam by the user. They are most suited to lighter loads.

Geared trolleys are built with a gearing mechanism that allows for easier movement of heavier loads. The operator turns a handle/crank to move the trolley along the beam, reducing manual effort compared the push trolleys.

Electric travel trolleys are equipped with an electric motor, allowing for powered movement along your beam. They are more suited to shifting heavy loads and provide a more ergonomic user-friendly solution.

Powered utilising compressed air, air-powered trolleys are most utilised in areas where electrical power is not practical or safe.

Similar to electric trolleys, Motorised trolleys used an electric motor for powered movement. This type of trolley is better served for applications that require precise positioning or frequent load movement.

Beam clamp trolleys are designed to attach directly to the flange of the beam, providing a secure and stable connection for various beam types.

Specifically designed for I-Beam profiles, these trolleys provide a secure fit on the horizontal flange of an I-Beam.
