WHAT IS AN ANCHOR POINT?

In lifting equipment, an anchor point refers to a fixed and secure location to which a load or a piece of equipment can be attached for lifting, hoisting, or securing purposes. These anchor points are crucial for ensuring that the safety and stability of the lifting operation is maintained. Anchor points can take various forms depending on the specific requirements of the lifting task at hand.

WHAT KIND OF ANCHOR POINTS ARE THERE?

Depending on the needs of the task at hand, there are different anchor points that can fulfil the needs better than others. The main three categorisations are structural anchors, anchor loops or rings, and temporary anchor points.

Structural anchors are fixed points on a structure that are engineered to withstand specific loads. Anchor loops or rings are anchors installed or attached to the structure specifically for lifting purposes. Temporary anchors are portable or temporary points of attachment that are used when a fixed anchor point is not available.
